You could try a recorded guided meditation if it'd help. I do a tree meditation daily (the idea of a forest always keeps me calm), and hang out in a garden I create for myself. It takes time, but if you look at it as a disciplined focus activity instead of a fearful game of losing yourself, i think you'll find it helpful everytime.
